A Note on Body & Identity
This book explores body horror as a lens for identity, gender and bodily autonomy, including a menstruation-coded transformation arc that some readers may read as trans allegory. It is not always a gentle metaphor, at points it’s presented as frightening, alienating and out of the character’s control. If body horror tied to gender is a hard limit for you, please read with care. This extends to moments where the body acts outside the character’s control entirely, including violence he doesn’t choose and desire he can’t consent to.
